The story so far . . .
Born in New York, I moved from the United States to Germany in 2006. Home is Kassel, home of documenta and Ahle Wurst. I like to read.
Business English teaching started as soon as I arrived, alongside writing, editing, and proofreading — copy, web content, books (eight so far) — and work with LLMs and AI systems. The specialty is texts translated from German into English, and English written by speakers of other languages. Academic papers and doctoral theses have been a focus for the past 15 years, most of that work in the last ten about machine learning, LLMs, AI, and their application in industry and business.
Professions worked with — engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, law, tax consulting, IT, quality management, finance and controlling, human resources, project management, department managers.
Industries taught in — automobile, medical device, pharmaceutical, legal, publishing, web design, insurance.
I like this work. A lot.
Where I work
For a long time, big cities — 17 years in Philadelphia. Now 20 years in a much smaller one, on a different continent.
How I work
Like everyone else, working from home took over in 2020. These days it is mostly from my office, with in-person meetings a few times a week.
